DONALD N. REED, JR, MD, FACS

Dr. Donald N. Reed, Jr. is a Senior Surgeon originally from Michigan, where he attended the University of Michigan for both undergraduate studies and medical school.  He obtained training in general surgery in the Michigan State University system, then did his first post-graduate Fellowship in Trauma and Critical Care in Pittsburgh, PA.  It was during those two educational experiences that Dr. Reed received extensive training in vascular surgery. He subsequently became Board-Certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.  In addition he is Board-Certified in Laser Surgery and performed a second Fellowship in Endoscopy, ERCP and HPB Surgery at the University of Louisville 1998-1999, where he received additional training in cancer surgery.

My Experiences

Over the next 30 years Dr. Reed taught as a Professor for three Universities – Michigan State University, Indiana University and the University of Cincinnati. He served as Trauma Medical Director at two Trauma Centers in MI and IN for 16 of his first 32 years in practice.  He began doing anterior spinal access surgery in the mid-90’s and currently concentrates in that area since joining Dr. Santarosa in practice in 2018.

Dr. Reed served as a trauma surgeon at the rank of Lt. Colonel with the United States Army Reserve from 2003-2011, and was on Active Duty during two tours of Iraq in 2004 and 2007.
